Cottage Information

This delightful cottage offers a lounge with inglenook fireplace with a gas wood burner, smart TV with Freeview, a cloakroom kitted out with ironing board and vacuum cleaner, a fully fitted kitchen including dishwasher, washing machine, fridge and Nespresso coffee machine with complimentary coffee.  Gas central heating keeps the cottage warm during the colder months.

Upstairs, the accommodation offers a double master bedroom along with a second single bedroom, both with flat screen TV's and John Lewis bedding.  A good sized shower room with walk-in shower is also located upstairs with John Lewis towels.
Outside you will find a beautiful cottage garden and small patio perfect for morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evenings

There is a portable radio in the lounge.  Free Wi-fi is also available.

Nearby Restaurants

Guests can visit either The Hive Beach Café right on the beach at Burton Bradstock or the Watch House Café on the beach in West Bay!   These would be a great place to visit for a meal, special occasion or even just a coffee to relax and unwind after a hard day’s sightseeing or walking. If you're looking for something a little more special, The Club House Restaurant on the beach in West Bexington is the place to be and guests can enjoy cocktails, fine food and wine in an intimate 1930's inspired atmosphere.  Please note bookings are essential.  Check website for opening times. The Club House and the Hive Beach Café offer stunning sea views.

The Area

Burton Bradstock beach and cliffs are included in the new World Heritage Site which runs from Orcombe Point (near Exmouth in Devon) to Old Harry Rocks (near Studland in Dorset). It is a small town with 2 pubs, post office/shop and gas station. A short walk away you'll find the popular Hive Beach Cafe which is somewhat of a legendary establishment in the area and very popular all year round and is owned by the owners of Donkey Lane Cottage. The larger town of Bridport is a few miles away and offers a larger range of conveniences such as supermarkets and independent grocery stores and bakeries and various other pubs and restaurants, as well as a fantastic market on Wednesdays and Saturdays.  Why not take in the stunning country and beach scenery on a walk

Getting Around

A car is the best way to see the local area however everything within the village is an easy walk.  If you are travelling to the area by train, Sia Taxis can collect you from any local train station (Dorchester, Axminster, etc) and transfer you to Donkey Lane Cottage.  Sia can be contacted on 01308 423660 or 07939 839899.

Welcome Pack

This can be ordered as an optional extra when booking Donkey Lane Cottage and contains West Country milk, Clipper Tea, Hive granary bread and Hive jam pot,  Hive Bakery granola, local butter and cheese.


There is no allocated parking for the cottage, guests will need to find on-street parking close by but this is not a problem. Check-out time is strictly by 10am to ensure that the property can be cleaned to be able to accommodate another booking that may be arriving on the same day.  Please book all guests as adults.

Cancellation Insurance - £25

Take out our in-house holiday cancellation insurance and, in the event that you are unable to come, we will refund you as long as we are notified 48 hours in advance of your expected day of arrival.  This is an optional extra.
